Description

This 3 credit course for community health students introduces students to the field of community health outlining the history evolution and practice of delivering health information to communities. The course focuses on principles and practices of community health including health education and promotion, demographics, epidemiology and the health of diverse poopulations throughout the lifespan.

Course Objectives:
After successful completion of this course you will be able to:

* Describe coure concepts in the field of community and public health including history philosophy and vaues.
* Indentify the fundamental biomedical, behavioral and social determinants of helth and disease.
* Recognize the basic statistical and demographic methods used in community health.
* Explain basic concepts of social mardeting, community organization and community empowerment in community health.
* Analyze community health issues including determinants and contribution factors.
