Description
This course is a description and analysis of Native tribes and groups which lived in, used, or migrated through the area which is now Montana from at least 10,000 B.C. to present day. Attention is given to the characteristics of Montana groups, intercultural relations, and practices will be examined. In addition, history of US and Native interactions and colonization will be examined. This include, but not limited to American exploration, the fur trade, discovery of gold, Plains Indian wars, treaties and agreements, and formation of reservation.
